Gujranwala, the city of gastronomes, has always been a lively center of social economic and cultural activities. In recent years, the mammoth growth of multiple industries resulted in the immediate need for young and energetic professionals who could exploit their skills globally to promote exports. The quest for scientists became the very motive behind the establishment of Punjab College of Science Gujranwala.
PGC selected an ideal site in the tranquil area of the city that offers a dynamic atmosphere for scientific education. All classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with the latest multi-media systems. Students enjoy the facilities of the most sophisticated Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Labs. The College also has a well-stocked library that satisfies multiple queries of the students. It possesses a large collection of textbooks, reference books and journals. Qualified library staff is always accessible.
This year, the academic performance of PCS is par-excellence. Almost 61 students joined different Medical Colleges and 58 students got admission in Engineering Universities of Pakistan. This year Ayesha Naseer and Mona Jaffar stood 1 st in I.C.S Group and Pre-Engg. Group respectively. Shaleern David and Kashif Shahzad secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in the GBISE (Pre- Engg.). M. Zukhruf got 3rd position in Pre- Medical while Haseeb Shahid stood 2 nd in General Science Group. Maryam Shahid and Parvasheh Raza secured 2nd and 3rd position in I.C.S. Group.
Punjab College Science Gujranwala is declared "The Best College" in Gujranwala by Inter Board Committee of Chairmen. Miss Riffat Aziz won the prize of car including Cash Prize of Rs.100,000 for securing the highest marks in Punjab. Separate Welcome Parties for Boys and Girls of Inter and Degree classes are arranged in which students perform dramas, skits and make speeches.
Following the traditions, recreational tours are arranged for Boys and Girls students for Murree and northern areas. Last year PCS Gujranwala also arranged Quiz Competitions. These competitions were based on the covered course of the students.
